10 Movies That Tricked You Into Believing Heroes Were Evil
4. Pitch Black - Richard B. Riddick
Riddick is introduced to us as a crazed serial killer, bearing a muzzle to prevent him from biting and a blindfold to prevent him from spotting an exit from his containment. We also get a run down of his multiple crimes to really hit home what a piece of work he is.
Then after crash landing on an alien planet, he is let loose and his only goal is to survive. He's an exceptionally intimidating figure, with Vin Diesel's impossibly gravelly growl and insane physique. His eyes that allow him to see in the dark make him an exceptionally imposing figure too, as he stands back letting one character get slaughtered by an alien creature and barely flinches.
Portrayed as a selfish lone wolf, Riddick's personality eventually warms as he gets to know the cast of other survivors, though he keeps his distance and is anything but charming.
After going through a hellish nightmare with everyone, as they near escape he stays true to his character and traps them all in a cave to leave on his own. He is convinced by Carolyn to go back and eventually the movie ends with him getting the last laugh on the true villains of the film the deadly alien beasts.
Riddick was going to leave them all on that world, but he grows as a character and future installments matured him further into a badass anti-hero.
It all started with Pitch Black fooling everyone he was an irrideemable psychopath.
