10 Movies That Tricked You Into Thinking They Were Over

7. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011)

DragonTattooGoldThe "False" Ending... David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo clings to an incredibly dense and complicated plot that's rather hard to put into a few words, but let's just say the finale reaches its climax when super duo Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist discover that one member of the large family they've been investigating - Martin Vanger - is actually a serial killer. When he tries to escape by car, Lisbeth gives chase, only for Vanger to end up dead when he crashes his vehicle and it explodes with him inside. Case closed. But Wait... Though this doesn't actually mark the end of the story, it feels like so much of a resolution when it happens after two hours that you're really not expecting anything more. And yet there's actually a rather large section of the movie to go, in which Lisbeth comes up with a rather ingenius plan to make herself rich, and Blomkvist fills in the details of the plot. We're also inclined before any of this happens to believe that Lisbeth and Blomkvist will end up together, which totally doesn't happen. The movie ends with her driving away on her bike, heartbroken.
