10 Movies That Unexpectedly Confused Audiences

4. The Hunt

Prometheus movie
Blumhouse

The Hunt may be far from a perfect movie, but it sure is one of the boldest and most provocative films to be released this year, a satirical horror film which left many critics fumbling to get a read on its specific intent.

The film follows a group of conservative-voting "deplorables" who are rounded up and hunted to the death by the bloodthirsty liberal elite, which prior to its release seemed to suggest The Hunt was learning on the right side of the political spectrum.

But the final movie itself is actually far more ambiguous about its politics, choosing instead to poke equal opportunities fun at both "sides," while ultimately conceding the absurdity of "us and them" politics.

That naturally didn't stop people of all persuasions bearing their own political biases by damning it as either fiercely left-wing or right-wing, creating a muddy yet fascinatingly passionate discourse with no clear consensus.
