10 Movies That WASTED Villains From Their Source Material

9. Venom - Spider-Man 3

Final Doom
Sony Pictures

Spider-Man is one of Marvel's most recognisable and beloved heroes, although that doesn't mean that he's had it easy in his many film adaptations.

Tobey Maguire's third and final outing as the wallcrawler was by far the least impressive of his trilogy, and with three iconic Spidey villains all crammed into one movie you could easily make an argument for any one of them to appear on this list.

Although the Sandman and Harry Osborne both got it a little rough in Spider-Man 3, fan-favourite Venom came out by far the worst of the bunch.

After the baffling casting of Topher Grace as Eddie Brock, the human half of evil alien symbiote Venom, fans were skeptical of Sam Raimi's ability to deliver a true representation of the character.

Owing only in part to the miscasting of Grace, Venom was not at all the villain he should have been.

Not only was his human host a whiny-voiced baby-face, Venom simply wasn't given enough screen time, and was easily overcome by Spider-Man at several junctures throughout the movie.

Put simply, Venom wasn't done justice in any way whatsoever.
