10 Movies That You Need To See More Than Once

9. The Tree of Life

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXRYA1dxP_0 Any film directed by Terrence Malick could have found its way onto this list but The Tree of Life has become his most misunderstood and confusing work yet which is what earns it a spot here. The narrative is very simple since it just focuses on a simple family and follows their lives for a short time. The biggest reason it warrants multiple viewings is because there is always something different to see in the visuals. Malick is one the greatest visual directors who has ever lived and this is his most fully accomplished and beautiful film. He tells his story here with minimal dialogue and lets the mood guide the viewer. This is, ultimately, why the film is so divisive. It's hard to get attached to characters that are difficult to care for but repeat viewings allow you to develop the character and story more for yourself in a way that could never be accomplished by only watching The Tree of Life once.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
