He claims that the mystery of Mulholland Dr. can be solved but it takes a great deal of analysis to figure it out. The Big Sleep features a very normal yet completely confusing story whereas Mulholland Dr. features a story that is completely bizarre but equally as confusing. Lynch adds strange moments and images that, upon first viewing, don't seem to have anything to do with the actual story but reveal themselves later on and with much thought. Another reason to watch the movie again is for the dynamic between Naomi Watts and Laura Harring. Their relationship is integral to understanding the film's plot but also becomes more interesting with a second viewing.
