10 Movies Too Bloated For Their Own Good
1. Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice
For years, the prospect of Batman and Superman facing off on the big screen had been a dream for many comic book fans and yet when they finally got it, many were left disappointed by the way the entire thing was handled.
Man of Steel rebooted Superman for a new generation of audiences, but there was little indication given at the time that it would serve as the starting point for DC's own shared cinematic universe. As a direct result, Batman v Superman had to do so much world-building that it was barely a Man of Steel sequel at all and more of a 151 minute advert for the wider DCEU.
To say that Zack Snyder's superhero epic had too much going on would be a massive understatement. It would have been much simpler if the plot focused solely on a strong introduction for Ben Affleck's Batman and the subsequent conflict between the two iconic characters. Instead, the story was absolutely loaded to the brim, much to the detriment of the final product.
As well as the returning cast from Man of Steel and the debut of the DCEU's Dark Knight, the movie also introduced Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Mercy Graves, Doomsday, Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg, a brief (and unpopular) Jimmy Olsen cameo and hints towards The Joker, leaving the whole thing feeling completely overstuffed.
Whatever your opinions are on the DCEU, it can't be denied that Batman v Superman simply tried to do too much, too soon.
