10 Movies Where Evil Won
5. Avengers: Infinity War
Yes, there are those who half-jokingly believe that intergalactic terrorist Thanos (Josh Brolin) actually did nothing wrong by, uh, redressing the balance of the universe at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. But come on, he's about as evil as they come.
Nobody views themselves as a villain in their own mind - just look at real-life tyrants for proof of that - but the Mad Titan's finger-snapping actions ultimately speak for themselves.
Skynet may have obliterated a decent chunk of the human race at the end of Terminator 3, but that's child's play compared to what Thanos did: with the snap of his Infinity Gauntlet-clad fingers, he wiped out half of all life in the universe.
Some will contest that Thanos' lack of discrimination over who lived and died means he can't truly be evil, but the catastrophic nature of his act is really all the proof you need.
Thanos' intentions may be "for the best" in his own sick mind, but since when isn't an unprecedented level of genocide about as evil as it gets?
This entry deserves an asterisk if only because Thanos' victory at the end of Infinity War is practically guaranteed to be temporary, but in terms of game-changing shows of force that left audiences totally bunny-stunned, it's practically peerless villainy.
