10 Movies With Different Endings In Different Countries
6. 1408
Whilst 1408 does fall into the similar trope of a film having its ending changed to a slightly more positive one for audiences, depending on where you watch it in the world today - you could watch one of four different endings.
The original ending which saw John Cusack's Mike burnt alive inside his hotel room was included in the Directors Cut of the film. The theatrical ending showed Mike surviving his ordeal in the room and believing his experiences to have been a dream, only to hear the voice of his dead daughter play through the taperecorder he used in the room.
The original ending is now the default ending on streaming platforms and networks in the U.S and Canada. But another end to the film wound up being shown on Netflix in at least Holland, Japan, and Australia.
In this ending, Mike again survives and moves with his estranged wife Lily to Los Angeles. A shocked Lily hears the voice of their daughter on the tape recorder and the film ends on a shot of Mike staring at her strangely.
Quite why there are two different endings for films viewed on the same streaming platform is baffling, but it isn't the only time Netflix has released multiple endings to a film.
