10 Movies You Have To Watch TWICE To Understand
4. Prometheus
The Alien franchise is one of the most iconic in the history of sci-fi (as is its terrifying, acid-leaky, tongue-projecty star creature), a product of its genre in many ways. Like a lot of science-fiction, it can be enjoyed at face value, but there are a lot more obscure details out there in the lore to pick through if you’re eager to dig deeper.
With that in mind, Prometheus had a hugely ambitious goal to fulfil: to lay a lot of the groundwork for what would come later in the franchise, to perhaps explain the origins of the creatures themselves. The result was a movie that offered more intriguing plot points and loose ends that can be discussed on a thousand internet message boards.
This incredibly ambitious movie, like Donnie Darko, tangled with a whole array of different concepts and themes, struggling at times to tie them together cohesively. Some of the deepest discussions known to humankind, such as the debate between creator and created, the power of artificial intelligence and the pursuit of answers that may not exist are tackled here. It’s a movie fans should watch, wade into some in-depth analysis of and then watch again.
