10 Movies You Must See To Understand Interstellar

8. Prometheus

From one uneven, often-derided sci-fi film to another of a more recent vintage, if you€™ve seen Prometheus you might have loved it and you may well have hated it, but you€™re bound to have an opinion on it. Fifteen years after the disappointment of Alien: Resurrection, franchise founder Ridley Scott was back at the helm to direct what 20th Century Fox hoped (and remain hopeful) would be the first in a new series of successful films about unfriendly E.T.s. Prometheus follows Noomi Rapace€™s Elizabeth Shaw, an archaeologist who discovers a star map that might provide the explanation of how the human race came into existence. She joins a crew of scientists on board Prometheus as they travel to a distant moon, where their lives come under threat due, predominantly, to preposterously unscientific and barely believable actions. In fairness, Prometheus has many fans and the critical response was largely positive. However, despite stunning visuals and an engaging first hour, the film has come under sustained fire for failing to deliver on its considerable early promise. With Interstellar also being a hotly anticipated big budget sci-fi featuring a team of specialists travelling into the unknown, the parallels are fairly obvious, so let€™s hope Nolan€™s film doesn€™t suffer from the same flaws that diminished Scott€™s Alien prequel.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
