9. C-3PO Has A Silver Leg - Star Wars

Prepare to have your mind melted.

Did you know that Star Wars' loveable droid C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) originally had a silver right leg? Yup.

From his very first appearance in A New Hope, Threepio's right leg was painted silver below the knee, in contrast to his otherwise-gold paint job, and this design carried through until the recent sequel trilogy.

In a spectacular case of the so-called "Mandela effect" in action, this revelation was shocking enough to many fans that they simply refused to believe it, assuming instead that George Lucas must've made the change when remastering the earlier films.

But none other than Anthony Daniels himself confirmed that C-3PO indeed had a silver lower-leg while shooting the original Star Wars almost 45 years ago, in what was an attempt by Lucas to demonstrate the character's long history.

The problem, inevitably, is that the silver paint clearly reflects anything around it which, in Threepio's case, tends to be a whole lotta gold.

Daniels stated that even the film's stills photographer didn't notice the silver leg for several weeks of shooting, nor did those behind the original Star Wars merchandise, where the C-3PO action figure has two gold legs. Oops.
