10 Movies You Need To Watch Twice To Completely Understand

7. Fight Club

Fight Club is a divisive film these days. Film snobs shun it as juvenile but it still holds a special place in the heart of its fans. There€™s nothing quite like its infamous twist. Lets assume you€™ve seen it and if not, remedy that now. You won€™t regret it. The first time you watch Fight Club, it€™s about an office grunt, played by Edward Norton who befriends the antithesis of his life; the suave, reckless Tyler Durden, played by Brad Pitt. Together after losing nearly everything, they start a fight club where men who€™ve never thrown a punch pummel each other to submission. It connects men to primal instincts before we were coddled into comfort. Soon that club evolves into Project Mayhem where they become nameless anarchists against corporations and consumerism. In hindsight, it€™s almost odd and unnecessary that Tyler Durden would turn out to not be real. The film (and Chuck Palahniuk€™s book) was already good and interesting enough at that point anyway. I guess it just goes to show what€™s inside of us. The second time you watch it, you consider the different perspectives of the secondary characters and fill in the gaps the film doesn€™t. Fight Club is full of insight and cynical existential ideas on the monotony of life. It€™s about masculinity in the modern world and growing up. It€™s also wickedly entertaining with slick cinematography and soundtrack. We mostly just come back to ride that rollercoaster again. The Social Network is another Fincher film that rewards on rewatch as you can put the timelines in the right order.
