4. Inception
Inception is probably the most mainstream movie on this list, and likewise probably the easiest one to understand - but that doesn't mean it is EASY to understand!
The plot revolves around dreams within dreams within dreams, so you know it's going to be hard to follow your first time through. Essentially it's a heist movie all taking place inside the subconscious of one man.
Everybody has seen this movie, which means two things: 1) There are WAY more discussions about it all over the internet and 2) It's even more impressive that we still have no idea for certain what really happens in the final scene.
Casual movie goers and Nolan fans alike have spent years puzzling over whether Inception's finale takes place in the dream world or reality, but the ambiguity is the point.
