10 Movies You Won't Believe Cost So Much Money

4. Town & Country - $90 Million

Evan Almighty Budget
New Line Cinema

Town & Country is another romantic comedy about the life of an architect played by Warren Beatty, and it at no point looks like anything more than your basic genre film.

Everything started off okay when production began in 1998 and it had a more reasonable budget of $44 million, though $10 million of that went to Warren Beatty himself. The movie was meant to come out in 1999, but filming was extremely difficult partly due to Beatty's constant demand for more takes.

There were also some script problems, with the screenplay being developed while shooting was happening and with the studio bringing in additional writers to work on the ending. Production was halted, and when it resumed a year later, nearly half the script had been rewritten. Reshoots that were supposed to take a few weeks lasted two full months, and the budget skyrocketed to $90 million.

This was all for nothing, as Town & Country was horribly reviewed, grossed an insanely low $10 million, and now nobody remembers it.
