Who's Connie Nielsen? After roles in films like Rushmore and The Devil's Advocate in the '90s, Nielsen broke through with her appearance in Gladiator, which she followed up in the years since with turns on TV in shows like Law & Order: SVU, Boss, The Good Wife, and The Following, and in films like The Hunted, One Hour Photo, and Nymphomaniac.

Why You Should Be Excited: Along with Antiope, Queen Hippolyta's presence in the film will likely be the source of a lot of Diana's inner conflict; after all, Hippolyta is her protective mother, and as much as she's ready to see the world beyond Themyscira, there's no place like home. With so much ground the film has to cover, how large her role is in the film is anyone's guess, but what it means for the DCEU from a storytelling potential is vast: This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to exploiting the Greek mythology inherent in these characters' history, and if Warner Bros. is willing to keep telling stories set before and/or after the events in this film, they have an unbelievable wealth of unique material with which to play.
