5. The Platform 2
No matter how good a non-English language movie is, it can have difficulty breaking into the mainstream. That's why it was incredible to see The Platform become a viral sensation and one of Netflix's most-watched original films ever.
The satyrical Spanish splatterfest takes place in a vertical tower, with the inmates eating from a descending platform. Although the upper-level prisoners can fill their bellies with all sorts of delicacies, the lower levels are left with scraps. Unsurprisingly, it isn't long before this imbalanced system leads to anarchy.
Subtlety may not have been The Platform's strong suit, but the dystopian thriller was entertaining and thought-provoking (and gross) from beginning to end.
Although The Platform felt like a self-contained story, the masses were hungry for more. As such, it's reassuring to learn the second course is almost here.
Little has been given away, but the promotions for The Platform 2 looks like everything has been cranked up to 11.
Since the first instalment left many questions unanswered, let's hope the sequel delves into the inner workings and explores the lore behind the facility's unique experiment.
