10 New Marvel Cinematic Universe Casting Rumours You Need To Know About

Big changes are coming to the MCU, with a lot of fresh faces rumoured to usher in a new era...

Moon Knight Keanu Reeves
Marvel Comics / Lionsgate

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany will take on the title role in Marvel Studios and Disney+ TV series She-Hulk. While its productions have been halted and release dates delayed thanks to current world events, Kevin Feige and company clearly aren't holding back when it comes to finding the actors who will usher in a new era of stories.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is shaping up to be a very different place in Phase 4 and Phase 5, and there are a tonne of new heroes and villains set to help with that. Jonathan Majors is another big casting addition to this shared world, as he'll play Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man 3.

However, there are also a lot of major casting rumours doing the rounds right now for Marvel's film and television projects. Some actors have already been cast, but their roles not revealed (until now, potentially), while others are reportedly lined up to play these characters, with just an official announcement between them and the gig of a lifetime.

It's an exciting time to be a Marvel Studios fan, and while those release date delays sting, it's clear the future is going to be as exciting as ever if these casting rumours do indeed pan out...

10. Erin Kellyman As Songbird

Moon Knight Keanu Reeves
Marvel Comics

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was supposed to debut on Disney+ back in August, but current world events made that impossible, and shooting has only just resumed on the series in Atlanta, Georgia. Now, it's unlikely to arrive until next year, but one eagle-eyed fan has spotted evidence that Solo: A Star Wars Story actress Erin Kellyman is playing Thunderbolts member Songird.

According to this report, "Georges [St-Pierre] was filming in a park standing with Desmond [Chaim] by a bench, while Erin sat between them on the back of the bench with her feet on the seat. He could not hear any dialogue but said Erin’s character used some kind of power, unclear how, to impress the two."

"The power involved extras near them in a field stopping, simultaneously looking at the phones, looking up, and all walking towards them in a group and as if in a trance."

While Kellyman wasn't in a costume, these powers sound very similar to Songbird, a character it's been rumoured will be part of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier for a while now. A group of female villains have also been spotted on set, and it's likely this iteration of the character will be part of "The Grapplers" at this stage in her supervillain career.
