10 Non-Superhero Comic Series That Would Make Great TV Shows

1. Damage Control

1122815Genre: Your guess is as good as mine What it is: Damage Control started life as, according to Dwayne McDuffie's pitch, "a sitcom within the Marvel Universe", and it hasn't changed much over the years. Essentially Marvel's construction crew, their job is to fix the city after it's damaged during a skirmish. Fin Fang Foom sat on the Stock Exchange? Call in Damage Control. The Rhino went barreling through Carnegie Hall? Call in Damage Control. Stilt Man stole the Statue of Liberty's Torch? Yeah, that wouldn't happen because Stilt Man's a joke, but you see what I'm getting at. Why it would be great: Now, bear with me here. ABC is already working on a pilot for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, and this would make a great, if lighthearted sister series or companion piece. Remember all of those time that Law And Order crossed over with Homicide: Life On The Street? It could be like that, two completely separate shows that share thematic links, Damage Control being called in to clean up after a big battle SHIELD had with A.I.M, or repairing a building damaged in a Hydra terror plot. It may seem like a silly concept, but if handled correctly it really could have legs. The basic cast is pretty cool, especially for what was basically a long joke, but if you fleshed it out a bit with other minor Marvel characters, the skies the limit. Like Gotham Central, you could even sneak in comic references. How about Damage Control being sued and Jennifer Walters showing up to represent them? Hell, she could even be a regular cast member. What about a billboard in the background for Heroes For Hire? If they handled the comedy, with just enough drama to make it interesting, Damage Control would be a really great show. Come on Joss Whedon, get on it. Joss? Joss? So, what do you think? Any other comics you'd like to see on the small screen. Let us know in the comments. But please, no Y: The Last Man. I would have included it, but you know, Damage Control.

He mistakenly had purple dreadlocks once. For three years. Which made him way less cool. He doesn't actually know what the word impresario means, and is way too lazy to Google it. Carl is also an American, and for that he apologizes.
