You've Seen Him In: "Angel" (1999-2004) Alexis Denisof was mostly known as a middle-weight television and voice actor, a premiere member of Joss Whedon's acting troupe, and didn't make much of an impression until his role as Benedick in Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing, quietly one of the best movies of 2013 and surely one of the better Shakespeare adaptations on film. Denisof, mostly known for playing stuffy bureaucratic types, crackled ferociously as lothario Benedick, the lascivious bachelor lead of Shakespeare's play. He brought a fiery charisma and smooth confidence to a potentially cartoony role, and although he's currently back on TV, all he needs is the right role in the right Joss Whedon blockbuster to propel him to the big leagues. The Role He Needs: He's done voice work on superhero properties before, as Dr. Leo Quintum in All-Star Superman and Mirror Master in various Justice League cartoons. What he needs is to be a villain in a major superhero franchise. The actual villain doesn't matter; he'd be a fine Riddler, sure, but he'd be just as great as any number of corporate or scientific Marvel villains. The main thing is that he needs to cut loose and twirl his proverbial mustache on the big screen.
