Considering how much hype there was surrounding the presence of Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) in Ant-Man and the Wasp, it was ultimately disappointing how small her role actually turned out to be.

Though we'll presumably be seeing Janet again in the third Ant-Man movie, to date we've only seen small snippets of the bungled mission which saw her trapped in the quantum realm for around 30 years, and nothing of what she actually spent all that time doing.

How did she manage to feed herself, survive, and maintain some semblance of her sanity? It would've been great to see a younger Janet acclimating to life in the realm, exploring its mysterious expanses and coming across the life residing within it.

Director Peyton Reed has suggested that there may be civilisations within the quantum realm, which would certainly be a neat idea to explore in Ant-Man 3.

Considering how pivotal a component of the MCU the quantum realm is, it really begs a more thorough examination.
