10 OKAY Movies Elevated By ONE Phenomenal Performance

3. Thor: The Dark World - Tom Hiddlestone

Before Ragnarok, Tom Hiddlestone was leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else in the Thor franchise. Chris Hemsworth seems to have been given more creative control of the character since, but in the first two movies he lacked a sense of personality.

Natalie Portman didn’t seem like she wanted to be there, Stellan Skarsgard’s character was all over the place and neither Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins or Rene Russo got enough screen time to shine. The movie, while slightly subpar by MCU standards, is still a decent watch and it’s only really Tom Hiddlestone who makes it this way.

When Taika Waititi took the reigns for Ragnarok, a lot of the fat was trimmed away and Thor’s personality was given a complete rework. It’s no surprise that Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is the only thing which survived intact.

Loki is a fan favourite within the MCU, either as a villain, hero or an antihero. Considering the mixed reviews of the movies he’s been in, that’s pretty good going.

He’s the lead villain in Avengers too, but most performers would be somewhat overshadowed by the hype of the MCU’s first team up. Another brilliant casting by the franchise.
