The initial Star Wars trilogy may have been built around Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia, the prequel trilogy may have been built around Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padme Amidala, and the current trilogy may be built around Rey, Kylo Ren and Finn, but there is one person who has largely been there throughout all of this: Chewbacca.

Now, Chewie may not quite have the prestigious honour of being in every Star Wars movie - that honour being bestowed upon C-3PO and R2-D2 - but the beloved Wookiee has appeared in all but two of the main Star Wars films.

Timeline-wise, Revenge of the Sith and the Battle of Kashyyyk was the first time we saw Chewbacca in action, and this iconic character is still going just as strong to this very day. In fact, despite clocking in at 234 years of age, Chewie is relatively young by Wookiee standards.

This warrior species has an expected lifespan of over 400, so that means there’s still plenty of life left in this Star Wars staple.
