Age: 121+

Newton Artemis Fido Scamander was born in 1897, and since he's still thought to be alive in 2018, he could very well live beyond his already-impressive 121 year life span.

Newt embarked on a brief stint at Hogwarts in the early 1900s (in Hufflepuff house), before being expelled after he took the blame for a dangerous accident involving a Jarvey - a ferret-like magical creature. After that, he served on the Eastern Front during World War I, and years later, he ended up in New York, where he inadvertently crossed paths with the dark wizard Grindelwald.

General audiences will be familiar with Eddie Redmayne's portrayal of the character in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, and a sequel - The Crimes Of Grindelwald - is due out later this year.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
