5. Armando Dippet

Age: 355 (now deceased)

Former headmaster of Hogwarts and Dumbledore's predecessor in the post, Armando Dippet lived to an unusually old age, even by wizard standards.

There's no record of him having extended his life by any magical means, so to live a mammoth 355 years is an incredible feat. Born in 1637, Dippet was Hogwarts headmaster in the mid-1900s before passing the torch to Dumbledore, and dying in 1992. During his tenure, Dippet denied Tom Riddle a job at the school, and was responsible for hiring staff members like Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall.

He was also present at the school when the Chamber Of Secrets was first opened in the early 1940s, and in the film adaptation of the second novel, we get a quick glimpse of him stood alongside Dumbledore, during the scene where Harry enters the diary and is transported back in time.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
