10 Original Endings That Would Have Ruined Famous Movies

8. Alien - Ripley Gets Her Head Bitten Off

Terminator 2 Alternate Ending
20th Century Fox

The Actual Ending:

After finding out the crew of Nostramo were sent on a suicide mission to retrieve an alien life form and bring it back to their employers on Earth, everyone besides Ripley - and the ship's cat, Jones - has been picked off one by one.

Ripley engages in one final, climactic confrontation with the alien who has snuck onto her shuttle. She blasts the alien into space with a well-placed grappling hook and continues her voyage home.

The Ending We Almost Got:

Instead of Ripley emerging as the only survivor and cementing herself as a badass for the ages, the Xenomorph would have killed her in the last scene by biting her damn head off. Then the alien would record a final entry into Ripley's log while mimicking her voice. Because nothing's creepier than an alien who's great at impressions.

Fade to black. No more Ripley. And likely no more Alien franchise.

Not only would this have killed the series and deprived us of the iconic Mech Suit battle from the sequel, it would have been a huge blow to Ripley's status as one of cinema's all-time badasses. If she hadn't made it out of the first film alive, history would likely remember her very differently.

Luckily, this version didn't make it past the storyboarding process.
