10 Oscar Film Categories That Should Totally Exist

9. Best Casting

Everybody who's in the business knows that this of facet deserves its own Oscar, and yet there's almost no recognition - at least, in an awards sense - for these particular branch of unsung heroes within the movie industry. That's right: the casting directors. Nobody ever thinks about the casting directors. Most folk probably aren't even sure what it is that a casting director actually does. Well, they're pretty integral to the success of any given movie, pretty much because they're tasked with finding and sourcing the talented actors who make up each and every one of the roles glimpsed in a picture. That includes the main cast, secondary parts, extras and even people who stand in the background looking weird. In short: everyone. Which means that each time you walk out of a movie theatre and think to yourself: "Gosh, everyone in that movie was great - even the characters with just a few lines," it also means that the casting director did their job super well. Of course, lots of Hollywood folk tend to think that an Oscar for Best Casting would prove too difficult to define - too many variables involved in the process, apparently. Seems like a poor excuse.
