10 Outrageous Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Theories

Of all the upcoming movies in Marvel's Phase 3, Captain Marvel is one of the most anticipated. Not just because she's a popular character, but as it means that Marvel is finally putting a female hero front and centre of one of its pictures. 

The film won't hit until 2018, but could Carol Danvers be along earlier than that? Black Panther and Spider-Man are both set to be established in Captain America: Civil War, and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. is building to the Inhumans. That leaves Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange as the two without an introduction, and we only have to wait a year for the latter. It could be that rather than being unseen until 2018, Danvers' introduction will actually come the year before, in Guardians Vol. 2. 

Her powers are very much cosmic-based, so she'd certainly fit within that world, and it'd be in keeping with the Marvel way for the other Phase 3 characters to have her appear elsewhere before her own outing. The one sticking point to this idea is that James Gunn himself has outright denied it, but he could always just be lying, or - with two years to go - the higher-ups might not have told him yet that Danvers needs to appear.
