10 Outrageous Movie Characters You Won't Believe Exist In Real Life

1. Norman Bates - Psycho

I know this one sounds creepy, but hear me out. Psycho is an iconic film that came out in 1960, about a young woman who finds herself at the hotel run by a man and his unseen mother. When Robert Bloch sat down to write the novel, which would eventually go on to be adapted into one of Alfred Hitchcock's greatest horror films of all time, he didn't come up with the idea for his murderous character on his own. Bloch was taken by the story of serial killer Ed Gein, who was known for desecrating bodies and turning human remains into trophies in the 1950s. Gross, I know, but apparently perfect inspiration for Mr. Bloch (Gein's story is also cited as inspiration for Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Buffalo Bill in The Silence Of The Lambs). Turns out Psycho is even scarier than you originally thought, huh? There you have it, then. 10 unbelievable characters who are, in fact, not that unbelievable. From ogres to serial killers, it's pretty crazy how much creative genius can be traced back to fact. What do you think of this list? Let us know in the comments section below.
