10 Outrageously Gory Horror Films You Need To See

5. Poultrygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead

City Of The Living Dead
Troma

Part satire, part zombie movie but mostly just bats**t crazy, Poultrygeist throws in everything from a music number performed by topless women to some surprisingly barbed humour, but it really pulls out the stops with its gore gags.

At American Chicken Bunker, where the diners have been transformed into chicken zombies (long story), breast implants are ripped out, testicles are fried and eaten and an Oirish priest attempts to stop the slaughter by brandishing a Mel Gibson DVD and screaming, “The power of The Christ compels you!”

Also around is a suicide bomber in a bikini and a redneck whose “complicated” relationship with chicken carcasses leads to him being bitten by one, and we can’t forget the young man who falls into the meat grinder before being resurrected as a talking sandwich.

Packing in more phallocentric humour, diarrhoea gags, anal intrusions and blood-spattered ya-yas than is decent or legal, Poultrygeist clucks a*s and takes names.
