10 Outstanding Musical Performances From Regular Actors

1. Roy Scheider - All That Jazz

roy scheider jazz The €œ8 ½€ of musicals (although €œNine€ was the musical version of €œ8 ½€), €œAll That Jazz€ is a semi-autobiographical by Bob Fosse. Roy Scheider gives a powerhouse performance as the fictionalized version of Fosse, the eccentric choreographer and director of the film. As Joe Gideon, he gives a performance that is touching, sad and humorous while capturing the proper amount egomaniacal nature needed yet still is a lovable character. Loneliness is a prevalent theme of the film and a lot of it is centered on Gideon, thus it takes a powerful actor in order to capture an audience€™s attention for that long. Going in and out of dream states, Scheider makes the pretension relatable and reality is blurred all culminating with a proper send off of song and dance with Scheider singing €œBye Bye Love€. Not the traditional musical, it is certainly an interesting one with one of the best performances that I have ever seen. Like this list? Which actors have we missed?
