10 Outstandingly Beautiful Cinematic Single Frames

4. Leap Of Faith - Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018)

Giant Purple Joi Blade Runner 2049
Sony Pictures

If Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was dominated by a single image (in the marketing, trailers, accompanying music videos), it was Miles Morales' death-defying skyscraper jump that turns the whole world on its head.

Mirroring the themes and character development of the film's hero, Morales launches himself in a leap of faith from the top of an NYC skyscraper, and the shot flips to show him ascending as he descends between the buildings, falling into the sky.

As the central image of the film, this is the shot from which the rest of the movie was built - a shot that producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had to invert once more after their staff took the image for a mistake and turned it the right way up.

This is another frame that benefits substantially from being viewed in full widescreen - it is well worth checking out in 4k and, as an added bonus, you get to watch the rest of this fantastic film with it.
