10 Overlooked Factors That Make Ben Affleck's Batman Casting Great

7. In Kevin Smith, He Has One Of The Industry's Biggest Comic Book Fans As A Resource

Ben Affleck Kevin Smith

Affleck himself is a comic book fan. Consider the people with whom he started his career €“ Kevin Smith, Jason Lee, Jason Mewes, and Matt Damon. He doesn't get consideration as a fan, because fans are mostly prejudiced against people that don't look or match their social awkwardness, their ability to get women, and if they have upper body strength. This is a crude and stereotypical judgment made against people like Affleck by fanboys that usually separate themselves with this distinction. I'm not trying to be crude, this just happens. Truth is, he doesn't need to know anything about comics to figure out the character he is playing. He has plenty of references to figure out the character and a solid director that will guide him in the process. The fact that he is a comic book fan makes it that much better for his delivery, and for us knowing we'll get a pretty solid representation. Probably one that will be closer to the character than we've ever seen. Let me rephrase that last sentence. Probably closer to the version of the character we've always wanted to see.

I'm a writer, a published author, and editor for a small independent publishing house. I'm an award winning producer of independent media, and I get to edit books, screenplays, and comics in my day to day. I love working on independent film & games, during my down time, as well as reviewing films while gobbling down milk duds (it's an addiction, I know). I've been called "Geek-Prime" among my peers for all the fandoms I work in, and I wear that title proudly. It's a passion, and an exercise in my growing profession, to get to write about what I love. Which happens to be a little of everything. But mostly film, comics, horror, games, anime, literature, and life. I do write about academic material, like politics, medicine, physics, and mathematics too. But for the most part, I like to keep things down to earth and simple. Follow me on Twitter & Facebook
