10 Overly Committed Actors Who Took Their Parts Way Too Seriously
10. Sean Harris - Creep
Finding yourself trapped in the London Underground system when you're on your way to another party in the hopes of bumping into George Clooney isn't exactly a scenario any of us would like to be faced with - throw in a murderous cannibalistic killer as well and it's fair to say that it's turned into the worst night of your life. Franka Potente stars as Kate, the unfortunate woman who finds herself in such an unenviable predicament in Creep, the 2004 horror film directed by Christopher Smith. While the movie itself is hardly going to win any awards for the greatest horror movie ever made, although the level of criticism it receives is perhaps unfair - there are far worse movies out there and the use of the dank and claustrophobic locations is very effective - few disagreed that Sean Harris's performance as the deformed killer was one of the best monster creations in recent years. Harris - ever the consummate Method actor - utilised the grueling 8 hours it took to apply the latex and make up to bring his character to life to "inhabit" the role, refusing to break it once the suit had been donned and frequently unsettling his co-stars on set. Most actors would no doubt be too busy trying to stave off the increasingly uncomfortable feeling of being covered in rubber and make up - Harris preferred to literally hang around from the rafters, practicing his weird wailing. It's all in the name of art, you understand.
