10 Most Overrated Actors In Hollywood

1. Leonardo DiCaprio

One of the ways in which great acting is measured is the depth to which they fully inhabit their roles to the point where the viewer isn't looking at the actor but beyond their personality towards something else. Daniel Day-Lewis, Tom Hardy and Kevin Spacey are just three examples of actors who manage to transcend their own personality and take on a new persona which utterly convinces the audience. As with the other actors on this list, Leonardo DiCaprio rarely achieves this separation from his own image into that of the character. While he's certainly a good actor, his merits are similar to those of stars like Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp, predominantly inhabiting a certain kind of leading man which suits their image. DiCaprio certainly knows how to create an intense sense of urgency with his roles, but you can't help but get the impression that there's always a degree of Leo peeking out behind the character informing his vocal intonations and gesticulations. Confident, assertive and larger than life, DiCaprio - like many other overrated stars featured on this list - is something of a victim of his own success, destined to play a certain type of role which plays to his familiar, well-worn star status. Do you agree that the actors on this list are overrated or do you think they deserve the praise they get? Which other actors would you describe as overrated?
