10 Perfect Casting Choices For The Stand Remake

8. Lloyd Henried - Sam Rockwell

Played in the mini-series by: Miguel Ferrer Lloyd Henreid begins the novel as a petty criminal who, along with Andrew "Poke" Freeman, engages in a killing spree across Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico, resulting in six murders, Freeman€™s death, and Lloyd€™s subsequent detention in a Phoenix jail. Once the plague hits, Henreid's fellow prisoners ultimately become victims of the Super Flu, in addition to the guards, leaving Lloyd as the sole survivor in the entire prison. This predicament leads him to resort to some extreme decisions in order to survive. All looked lost for our old pal Lloyd, until the Walkin' Dude entered his life. After being saved from his cell by Flagg, Henried agrees to be Flagg€™s right-hand man, despite his suspicion that his saviour is actually a devil. Once set up in Las Vegas, Lloyd becomes a man of importance, finding himself seemingly more intelligent and confident - which he attributes to Flagg's influence. Is there an actor more capable of breathing life into a character with a significant arc than Sam Rockwell? With a huge filmography spanning over 25 years, Rockwell has seemingly done it all. Possibly best remembered as the psychotic William 'Wild Bill' Wharton in The Green Mile, Rockwell can bring both energetic wildness and a quiet confidence to the characters he portrays, which are both traits displayed by the enigmatic Lloyd Henried.
