10 Planned Movie Scenes Actors Refused To Film
6. Jason Hurts A Dog - Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
As much as Friday the 13th's iconic, hockey mask-wearing, machete-totting serial killer Jason Voorhees might be a silent slasher movie villain, that doesn't mean he's entirely lacking in character.
Beyond the sheer physical storytelling evoked through the way he moves, there are certain tenets of the character which are upheld across most of the movies, and as the actor to have played Jason the most, Kane Hodder is basically the foremost authority on how he is portrayed.
And so, while filming the series' eighth movie, Jason Takes Manhattan, Hodder objected to a scripted scene in which, shortly after arriving in Manhattan, Jason kicks a dog to stop it barking at him.
Hodder felt that Jason's beef was purely with people - namely, those negligent camp counsellors who let him drown while they were busy shagging - and that it wouldn't be in his character to needlessly harm an animal.
Even though this was only Hodder's second of four appearances as Jason, writer-director Rob Hedden accepted Hodder's input and the cruel sequence was removed. Bring on all the human murder, though, right?
