10 Possession Movies You Need To Watch If You Liked The Exorcist
1. The Possession Of Michael King
No list about demonic possession films would be complete without this relatively underground cult classic, The Possession of Michael King. Released in 2014, the picture is a relatively low-budget found-footage affair, and yet it manages to capture the creepiness and scares in droves. Written and directed by David Jung, The Possession of Michael King was, in fact, Jung's directorial debut.
The film follows on the trail of a recently widowed character - played by Shane Johnson - who is such a sceptic of the paranormal that he tries every imaginable trick possible to invite demonic forces into his home to prove that this evil does not exist. This is a horror movie, mind, so, you guessed it, Johnson's character is playing with fire (literally) and ends up experiencing full-blown demonic possession.
This twisted and unsettling film certainly contains plenty of scares, blood and guts and occult themes to keep horror fans tuned in. Perfectly cast and with a setting that feels frighteningly real, this gem belongs in any top ten list about possession.
