The fact that Heath Ledger won a posthumous Oscar for his incredible take on The Joker in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight obviously leaves Jared Leto with some big shoes to fill. Of course, he won an Academy Award of his own thanks to a transformative performance in Dallas Buyers Club, so there's no doubt that he too will bring something very unique and different to the table next year when it comes to playing the Clown Prince of Crime. However, in terms of appearance, going for something similar to Ledger's Joker could work really well. Making the hair and make up slightly different would obviously be a must (no one wants to see Leto try and imitate Ledger), but the scars on his face are a clever and realistic way of portraying The Joker's disturbing looking smile. If scars are a little too close to repeating what's already been done, what if they go for tattoos instead? It could work.
