This is one of the Stephen King modern adaptations they actually got right. For seemingly no apparent reason monstrously huge insects begin lay waste to the inhabitants of a supermarket. The story then becomes about the extremely tensioned group inside fracturing off with some becoming religious nutjobs and others trying to find any means of escape. Its got everything you want from a mystery horror film; military secrets, biblical armageddon and a zoo full of terrifying Lovecraftian creatures. Frank Darabont, the director had a great quote on the film, 'The story is less about the monsters outside than about the monsters inside, the people you're stuck with, your friends and neighbors breaking under the strain.' Without wanting to ruin the ending lets just say that if youve read the Stephen King short story and think you know what's coming, think again!
