7. Jumper
Jumper had a simple premise that was easy to sell to an audience; a man gains the ability to "jump" around the world at will, while a society of assassins tries to take him down. It's simple, to the point, boasts an all-star cast including Samuel L. Jackson, and has the kinetic talents of director Doug Liman at the helm. What's more, Jumper is an adaptation of a 1992 sci-fi novel from Steven Gould, and ahead of the film's release, Gould had already written a sequel, Reflex, and just this year, also released a second follow-up, Impulse; the groundwork is very much already laid out for more stories. Sadly, Jumper was widely panned by critics for its threadbare narrative, though did scoop over $200 million worldwide against a $85 million budget. Liman has discussed ideas for a sequel - such as jumping to other planets and also through time - and it's not exactly like Hayden Christensen is doing anything more than rearranging his sock drawer these days, but with 5 years gone, it seems that the boat has sailed on this one.
