10 Potentially Awesome Movie Franchises That Never Took Off

5. Daredevil

Daredevil Ah, Daredevil, a comic book property with so much promise, one that instead materialised as a woefully goofy, breezy comic book flick that made a laughing stock out of Ben Affleck, and the rest of the movie's cast (namely Jennifer Garner and Colin Farrell) didn't really fare much better either. Though the Director's Cut is widely praised as vastly superior to the theatrical version, the vast majority of viewers have only seen the original cut, which not only earned Affleck a Worst Actor Razzie award, but was hated even by Stan Lee himself. Had Daredevil been more of a success - it made a modest $179.1 million against $78 million, and received mixed notices from critics - it no doubt would have spawned a franchise, but instead...we got a horrendously awful Elektra spin-off, which bombed at the box office and with critics. Attempts have been made to reboot the property as gritty and R-rated, but to date, to no avail.
