2. Avengers: Infinity War
What’s It About?
Intergalactic bad guy Thanos has taken it upon himself to gather together all the Infinity Stones in the universe and cause some serious havoc, but there’s one rather large object standing in the way of his shiny size nines: a stable of Marvel superheroes. This is the setting for a colossal smack down, where heroes will rise, fall and jokes will be cracked.
While the recently launched trailer shows a movie bent on building up to what will undoubtedly be the biggest superhero battle seen on screen, it’s those burning questions that we really want answered, such as, how will the Guardians Of The Galaxy be brought into the fold? Is that Spidey sense we’re seeing? And, crucially, what product does Cap run through his lovely new beard?
Who’s In It?
Rosters don’t get much heftier than Infinity War’s but along with familiar faces in Robert Downey Jr and his band of merry Avengers, and Chris Pratt’s Guardians, watch out for those bit players that stole the show in recent Phase Three Marvel movies. The good money is on Benedict Wong’s, erm, Wong and Pom Klementieff’s Mantis providing some memorable moments.
Why It’ll Be Awesome
Directors Anthony and Joe Russo have hit us with one of the most re-watchable trailers in recent years and this alone makes it a must-watch movie in 2018. But it’s hints from the directing duo that this movie and the yet-to-be-titled follow up in 2019 signal the end of an era for the MCU. The prospect of potential deaths and heroes stepping down in the wake of this battle is perhaps the most curiously tantalising aspect of all.
