8. Killing Them Softly - Ray Liotta Beating
Ray Liotta plays Markie Trattman, a guy who runs poker nights for the mob. When his joint gets robbed, hes the prime suspect, and as a result is subject to the most brutal beating ever committed to celluloid. Its not extreme by way of torture devices or sadism. Its just a hailstorm of punches. But its the way it was shot. You feel every punch. You hear the teeth cracking and the bones breaking. And it makes even the most hardened viewer of movie violence wince. Its relentless and disturbing. Far more than any madman with a chainsaw scene you can care to mention despite it being just fisticuffs. It's just so visceral. Words cannot do it justice. You have to see it.
