10 Predictions About The Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe

3. The Box Office For Dracula Untold Will Justify A Sequel

Most of the predictions in this article, and the fate of the Monsters cinematic universe, hinge on the fact that audiences will show enough interest in the property to justify more entries in the series. Warner Bros faced a similar predicament when it attempted to kick-off a DC cinematic universe with 2011€™s high budget misfire, Green Lantern. The misbegotten flop stopped the DC shared universe dead in its tracks until 2013€™s Man of Steel got the ball rolling again. If Dracula Untold fails to turn a profit, the Monsters shared universe might be put on hiatus until the studio can produce a monster hit. Thankfully, signs are pointing to Dracula Untold being enough of a success to reanimate the Universal Monsters franchise. For starters, Dracula Untold has a comparatively scaled back budget, around 100 million. This is much less than the 200 million dollar price tag for Green Lantern. So there€™s less of a budgetary hole for Dracula to climb out of. Thus far, Dracula Untold has made respectable numbers at the worldwide box office. Prospects are looking so good that the film€™s producer, Alissa Phillips, hinted that a sequel may be in the works at Dracula Untold€™s UK debut.
