10 Predictions For 2016's Most Iconic Movie Deaths
Mystique is going down.
A great movie can become a truly unforgettable one with the right death scene: kill off a beloved character in a shocking or inventive way and you've got something along the lines of Han Solo's brutal demise in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Decades from now, people will still be talking about it.
With the sheer amount of anticipated sequels and follow-ups heading to our screens this year, 2016 is sure to feature its share of memorable deaths, ranging from undeniably emotional send-offs to hysterically over-the-top and just downright weird kills.
These moments may create ripples that reverberate for the remainder of a movie's franchise, or they may be standalone moments we won't seen forget: either way, assuming our predictions are correct and the filmmakers measure up to their full potential, these are going to be the most talked-about death scenes of the entire year.
Here are 10 predictions for 2016's most iconic movie deaths...
10. Slipknot - Suicide Squad
Cause Of Death: Blown up by one of the explosive devices attached to him by Amanda Waller to keep him under control. Believing the bomb to be a bluff, he strays too far and pays the price for it, but probably takes a few enemies out with him.
Why It Will Be Iconic: Slipknot famously got his arm blown off in the comics when he ventured outside the mission area, and it's likely that writer-director David Ayer will be aiming to re-create this darkly comic moment for the movie.
However, the fact that the movie really needs at least one member of the team to die to sell the stakes, and that Slipknot is easily the least-memorable member of the team, has caused many to suspect that Slipknot's arm escapade will be expanded into a full-on death scene for the big-screen.
It'll be hilarious, it'll be about as brutal as a PG-13 can muster, and it'll be unforgettable.
