10 Predictions For 2017's Most Iconic Movie Deaths

1. Maz Kanata - Star Wars: The Last Jedi

The next core Star Wars movie is going to have a tough time topping the emotional devastation caused by Han Solo's (Harrison Ford) death in The Force Awakens, so it seems possible that the movie won't actually try.

That said, it's reasonable to expect at least a few supporting characters to get memorably offed, perhaps General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) or whoever the Hell Benicio del Toro's villain really is. Most likely, though? Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o), the delightful, tangerine-looking alien who helped out the heroes in the previous movie, and is confirmed to be returning for The Last Jedi.

Consider that Maz was originally supposed to show off her Force powers in The Force Awakens, and perhaps this time she'll get a chance, sacrificing herself to buy time for the heroes to escape. It'd be an epic, potentially emotionally devastating moment.
