10 Predictions For 2017's Most Iconic Movie Deaths

6. Nick Morton - The Mummy

The Mummy Tom Cruise
Universal

This death scene's a little different from the rest. It's not that often audiences get to see Tom Cruise die on screen (Edge of Tomorrow doesn't really count, OK?), but The Mummy features his protagonist's demise in the movie's first act, when a plane crash claims his life and allows Egyptian Princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella) to run riot on Earth.

The twist, of course, is that Ahmanet's restorative magic has somehow allowed him to come back to life too, and while the movie for the most part looks like generic tosh, at least this is one clever innovation to the formula of the previous films.

Ideally it'd be a set-up for Cruise to become the new Mummy at the end of the film, but with a franchise to consider, something so bonkers seems incredibly unlikely. Still, expect his death and subsequent awakening to be the best sequence in the entire movie.
