10 Predictions For Quentin Tarantino's Final Movie
9. Less Than Zero
The Bret Easton Ellis novel, Less Than Zero, is a confronting read for anyone that's ever picked up the book, following the story of a wealthy college student returning home into a lifestyle of drugs, sex and riches.
The tragic tale uncovers confronting lines of addiction, twisted relationships, male prostitution, murder and even the the kidnapping, drugging and sexual assault of a child. It's intense to say the least.
The novel has already seen an on-screen adaptation, the 1987 film of the same name, featuring very young versions of Robert Downey Jr and James Spader.
Although warming up to it as the years went on, Ellis wasn't a big fan of the film, with most critics agreeing it didn't really capture the story of the book, instead being a loose adaptation that has the same title and character names.
Although having just one novel adaptation to his credits, Tarantino has expressed his interest in a Less Than Zero remake on and off for years as a fan of Ellis' work.
It's believed that Tarantino's interest grew after Roger Avary, with whom he wrote Pulp Fiction with, directed another of Ellis' novels, The Rules of Attraction, onto the big screen in 2002.
As a director that bares very little, to no, filter in many of his movies, the intensity of a raw, emotional and confronting story of this magnitude looks to fit the Tarantino bill to a tee.
Unfortunately, persistent rumours and murmurs of interest from Tarantino and Ellis have never been enough to get it over the line.
