10 Predictions For Quentin Tarantino's Final Movie
6. Forty Lashes Less One
Another potential novel adaptation for QT, but unlike the aforementioned Less Than Zero, Tarantino actually owns the rights to Elmore Leonard's Forty Lashes Less One.
To add fuel to the fire, Tarantino has already brought one of Leonard's books to the screen in the past with Jackie Brown in 1997, which was an adaptation of Rum Punch.
It's also a Western, a genre that Tarantino has previous with. If that doesn't have his name written all over it then nothing will.
In 2007, Tarantino addressed the rumours that began circling at the turn of the century, teasing his progress and passion for the story.
"I actually own the rights to that novel. It’s a terrific novel. I could never let go of it. I’ve written about, like 20 pages of the adaptation of it. But I might very well do it some time. It’s the only thing that I have just kind of held on to, that I can’t quite let go."
Things started heating up again around the release of The Hateful Eight as people began to speculate on his next move.
"I've been wanting to adapt (the book) for a while, and it may be time for me. It is Elmore Leonard's Forty Lashes Less One, which could be my third western."
He's started a script already. He's repeatedly stated that he wants to adapt it. He has the rights to it.
A third story in a western trilogy could be the perfect 10th film to retire on.
